What do I do, when I have lost my Student ID card or it's broken?

If you lose your chip card call the Call Center of Georg-August-Universität Göttingen immediately at 0049 551 39-20000 to have your card blocked. Be prepared to state your name, date of birth, and student ID number.

From now on, you can conveniently request a new card online via the student ID portal. After submitting your request, transfer €8 for a new card via instant transfer. Once your card has been produced, you will receive a notification by email and can collect your new student ID card from the chip card office in the ZHG.

Please note that the card is usually ready for collection three working days after application. If there was still credit on your old card, you can have it transferred to your new card at the Student Services infobox.

Alternatively, in urgent cases, it will be possible to have replacement cards issued at the Office of Student Affairs on Wilhelmsplatz until 1 May 2026. Information and opening hours can be found here.
