Study Sites


Within LLL, we have selected six joint research sites to facilitate data exchange and a close collaboration between all subprojects.

  • On-station experiments concentrate on the Experimental Farms of the University of Limpopo, and of the University of Venda.
  • On-farm experiments, field observations and harnessing of farmers' local knowledge focus on four LLL Core Villages situated along a steep climatic transect between Turfloop and Phalaborwa. These villages provide a representative sample of climate, vegetation, soils, land-use and communities in the larger region.
