Klostergut Marienstein
Marienstein experimental Farm
The research Farm is located in the southern Lower Saxon Leinetal, 10 km north of Göttingen. The agricultural farm of the Klosterkammer Hannover is managed by the Georg-August University of Göttingen through the experimental farms of the Reinshof.
The task of the researchfarm is to conduct experiments and provide resources for research in crop science and related fields.
Already in the year 1100, the Archbishop of Mainz decided to build a monastery on this historically significant site. In the following years, areas in the surrounding area were converted into arable land and grassland, thus laying the foundation for the fertility of the region.
On the monastery farm's grounds, there is a grain storage facility, machine halls, a workshop, and a tank and washing area. The social and seminar room has been newly renovated.
In the Department of Crop Science (DNPW), the areas are used for research and training purposes by various departments. The department of agricultural technology has its external location on the farmstead, where experiments, lectures, and demonstrations are conducted.
