Josefine is a PhD student to be at the chair of Socio-Ecological Interactions in Agricultural Systems since December 2024 and receives the Exposé Scholarship from the University of Kassel. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Ecosystem Management at the Georg-August-University Göttingen and her Master's degree in Organic Agriculture at the University of Kassel. After completing her Master's degree, she worked on farms and for various organizations, including a small organic seed farm. This work experience drew her interest to the topic of seeds and its social significance.
Research Foci
During her master's degree, she focused on social interactions in the field of agriculture, particularly on specific aspects of organic farming. In her master's thesis, she analysed the conflict surrounding the Spessart National Park and examined the relationships between different stakeholders and the local forest. Her focus has increasingly shifted to the role and preservation of seeds. She is interested in combining participatory research methods in order to document and pass on knowledge and experiences. The aim of her work is to promote the exchange of knowledge and make local perspectives visible.
