The Student Union and Student Initatives of the University
You can get involved in numerous student groups, initiatives and associations at Göttingen University. You can get an overview via the directory of all university groups (in German). Most groups offer introductory evenings during the first weeks of lectures where you can get a taste of the groups' work. But also in the later course of your studies, university groups offer a great opportunity to meet new people and to stand up for common values with like-minded people.
Get Involved
The General Students' Committee (AStA) represents the students' interests vis-à-vis the university. In addition, the AStA supports students in the form of advice and services and organises political education events. In addition to detailed information for first-year students, you can also find information on the AStA website about financing your studies, studying with children, an interest-free instant loan with which the AStA can support you in financial crises, a bicycle repair shop as well as its own legal advice service and much more.
