Sympathy and solidarity with Heidelberg

All U15 universities unite in sorrow and solidarity with Heidelberg University. As a sign of sympathy, on Monday 31 January, flags were flown at half-mast. We stand together side-by-side with all those affected by the fatal attack, with the students and staff of the University and with the citizens of the city of Heidelberg.

Our thoughts are especially with the victims and survivors of the attack. Our thanks go to all those who assisted at the scene, the emergency services, the medical staff and especially the staff and students of the University itself.

"We are shocked and saddened. The students and staff of the University of Göttingen mourn with the University of Heidelberg, its students and staff. Let us all ensure that universities remain places of openness and meetings, of freedom and exchange. Zum Wohle Aller: For the good of all," says Professor Metin Tolan, President of Göttingen University.
