The European Operations Management Association (eurOMA) is an international network of academics and practitioners committed to the advancement of operations management. EurOMA promotes excellence in education and supports numerous academic activities such as workshops and seminars.

A highlight in the calendar is the annual EurOMA International Conference, which serves as an important forum for the presentation of new ideas and developments in the field of operations management. This year, the conference took place from 29 June to 4 July in Barcelona, where Katharina Berendes took part together with Prof. Dr Matthias Klumpp (TU Darmstadt, Politecnico di Milano) and Maria Keil (TU Darmstadt) as part of the REWE Lab.

Katharina Berendes and Prof Dr Matthias Klumpp presented their joint paper entitled ‘Trade-off or balance? Illuminating the tension between resilience and efficiency in retail supply chains’ (Berendes, K., Hammerschmidt, M., Arabmaldar, A., Klumpp, M. & Koreis, J. (2024)). Katharina Berendes also took part in the Journal Publishing Workshop (see photo). This workshop enabled exciting discussions with renowned editors such as Prof Dr Juliana Hsuan, Prof Dr Mark Pagell, Prof Dr Jens Roehrich, Prof Dr Chris Voss and Prof Dr Andreas Wieland and provided valuable ideas and experience for the further development of the paper projects.
