Study advice for German and English language courses
The student advisory service at the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology offers both prospective and current students information and advice on all courses offered by the faculty. Among other things, we clarify questions and facts about course content, course organization, legal issues regarding course and examination regulations, the job market, and we advise you on personal problems affecting your studies. All offers are free of charge and subject to confidentiality. Please note the respective responsibilities of the individual advisors.

Jutta Hohlstamm: Study advisor for German-language courses
If there had been a course advisory service when I was graduating from high school, my choice of course might have turned out differently. As a big city kid, I naively thought that with a degree in forestry, one would later plant trees and thus save the environment.
I was taught better during my studies - the bachelor's degree in forest sciences with its numerous disciplines includes many more career opportunities. After graduating, I worked in a forestry project in development cooperation in Chile before completing a Master of Business Administration. After various jobs in business, I have been working as a study advisor at the faculty since 2009.
If you have any questions about studying in the German-language courses (Bachelor's and Master's in Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology), I am happy to help prospective students and students.

Christian Beuter: Study advisor for English-language courses
I still remember how I came to Göttingen in the early 2000s, quite disoriented, and wanted to find out more about studying forestry. After a while, I found a contact person in a specialist department – the student advisory service is now located centrally in the Dean of Studies. In any case, the advice was convincing, so that in the years that followed I enjoyed the extensive basic forestry training of the bachelor's degree with its wide range of subjects. An internship at a large environmental organization and a semester abroad in Sweden followed before I decided to focus on tropical-international subjects in my master’s degree. During these years I gained extremely valuable international experience and studied in a very heterogeneous environment with people from all over the world. At the time, I probably would not have thought that one day I would look after exactly this group of people professionally. I am happy to advise prospective students and the students of our English-language, international degree programs and am supported by our tutors for international students.
