Important Documents

Here is a list of important documents that you and your family will need for your stay:

• Valid passport(s) (your passport(s) should be valid for at least 3 months beyond the end of your stay)
• Letter of invitation or (draft) contract from the University of Göttingen
• Confirmation of your funding (contract from the University of Göttingen or proof of income from your home country, proof of a scholarship/grant, proof of own financial means) in German or English
• Visa (non-EU nationals only), also for accompanying family members
• Proof of health insurance for the stay in Germany (in English or German)
• Biometric photos for ID-documents (can easily be made here in Göttingen)
• Vaccination card and other medical records (such as previous illnesses or current medication)
• Certified translation of birth certificate(s), including any accompanying children and partner
• If applicable, certified translation of your marriage certificate; depending on the country of issue, an apostille or legal certification may be required
• If applicable, school-leaving certificates from the last school your children attended
• If applicable, officially certified copies of the last or highest academic degree certificate (e.g. doctorate certificate) in German or English
• International driving licence if you want to drive in Germany
