Federal Education and Trainings Assistance Act (BAföG)

In order to receive BAföG payments beyond the 4th semester, BAföG recipients must prove to the BAföG office that they are studying properly.


The following regulations apply to this:


If the performance level of the 3rd semester is certified (if the application is submitted within the first four months of the 4th semester), the student needs to have acquired at least 70 credits by the end of this 3rd semester.

If the performance level of the 4th semester is certified (if the application is submitted from the 5th month of the 4th semester), the student needs to have acquired at least 100 credits by the end of this 4th semester.

Both the performance of the two subjects and the professionalisation area are included in the calculation.


You can generate the necessary performance record required to be presented to the BAföG office yourself in your FlexNow account. To do so, please go to "Summary of achievements" and select "4) BAföG-Leistungsnachweis / BAföG Summary" from the "report format".


If you face technical problems, please approach the staff member of the examination office who is entrusted with your subject. Provided one of your subjects is located in the Faculty of Humanities, the examination office of the Faculty of Humanities is responsible for you.
