Lower Saxony 6.6 °C 1045 mm 505 m Managed spruce forest

The measurement station was located in the Solling uplands in southern Lower Saxony in a managed spruce forest (Picea abies) at an elevation of 505 m above sea level. At the time of measurements, the forest stand had a mean tree height of 29 m with a tree age of approximately 130 years. The Leaf Area Index (LAI) was 7 m2 m-2. The climate is sub-maritime to sub-continental with a mean annual precipitation of 1045 mm and a mean annual temperature of 6.6°C.

The Solling uplands have been a research site since the 1960s. From 1990 to 2017, meteorological data as well as CO2 and water exchange were recorded there at intervals using the eddy covariance method.
