Do It Yourself!
The best way to find out whether a particular (field of) activity is suitable for you is to try it out. The degree programmes at the English Department are not primarily career-oriented – unlike dual degree programmes, for example – so there are no fixed career-related modules in the core curriculum. However, the SEP's degree programmes do offer students the opportunity to try out different areas of interest. For BA students, this is possible through the "Schlüsselkompetenzen"; Master of Arts students can receive credits for such modules in the core curriculum. The respective module forms can be found further down the page.
Finding an internship can be tricky, especially if you're not sure what you want to do yet. You can explore your options with some personalised career counselling. Some internships are offered in internship databases; three of these are linked here. However, it may also be worthwhile to send a speculative application.
