Office hours and contact

If we contact you, we use the email address assigned to you by the University of Göttingen (Name[at]stud.uni-goettingen.de). You are required to check this email account regularly.

The stud.uni email address is only accessible for up to one year after your graduation. It is desirable that you also provide us with another (private) email address where you can be reached. We would also appreciate a phone number in case we need to contact you in an urgent case. Please enter this information yourself in your student data. (If you encounter difficulties doing so, e. g. if you cannot change your private email address, please contact the Student Services Office.)

In preparation for certificates and/or your final degree certificate: Please check the information you have entered in your student data on eCampus. All first names and the last name must be entered exactly as they appear in your official documents (e.g. ID card). Please also make sure that your place and country of birth are entered correctly. These details, including spelling, will appear on your degree certificate. (A place of birth such as “Peking/Germany” or “Karl-Marx-Stadt/Germany” or “Krakow/Poland” would, if entered that way in your student data, incorrectly appear on your certificate.)

Delivery of official notices: These will only be sent to you digitally via your university email address. To avoid missing important information and deadlines, please check your “stud.uni” emails regularly.

Delivery of (degree) documents: Keep your mailing address up to date – please mark one address as your “postal address.”

The respective regulations form the basis for your course of study:

  • In the General Examination Regulations (APO) of the Georg-August-University, you will find basic rules that apply to all degree programs in all faculties at the University of Göttingen.
  • In the Wiwi framework examination regulations (Bachelor-RPO or Master-RPO), you will find general provisions of the Faculty of Economic Sciences for all Economics degree programs.
  • In the examination and study regulations (PO or PStO), you will find specific regulations for your degree program and the module overview with mandatory, elective, and key competence modules.
  • The degree program page for your study program provide more information about your specific program.

Be sure to read the study and examination regulations applicable to your degree program. Use the links on the Examination Office's page, not links obtained through your browser's search function (this is the only way to ensure you are reading the current and valid version!). If you have any questions or uncertainties about your course of study, please contact the Examination Office or student advisory service early on.

You can only take exams (module exams and final theses) if you are registered in FlexNow for each specific exam. The team from the Examination Office manages and organizes your exams. To get an overview of your exam results, please use the general examination management system FlexNow. Further information and instructions can be found here: FlexNow for Students

You can only participate in exams if you have registered for them within the specified deadlines in FlexNow. Here you will find information about module exams (registration and deregistration, mandatory study counseling after the second failed attempt, etc.). Here you will find information about registering for your thesis.

If you encounter any problems with registration or deregistration for exams, please contact us within the deadlines. Late registrations will not be considered.

  • For modules with limited capacity, additional registrations at the department might required.
  • A late registration in FLEXNOW will not be processed, even if you have registered with the department and forgot to register in FLEXNOW. Please be aware of this double registration.
  • You have three attempts for all Wiwi-modules (in few exceptions four attempts, which are regulated in the Bachelor-RPO).

Currently, all Economics degree programs have deadlines for proving certain examination achievements! These are relevant for the continuation of your studies and are regulated in the respective framework examination regulations.

If you do not meet these requirements, a notification will be issued regarding the expiration of your examination entitlement. Continuing your studies, even in another Economics program, will then no longer be possible at the faculty. Please familiarize yourself with these deadlines and seek advice from us or student advisory services if necessary.

Please note that a "Notice of Final Failure" for your degree program will also be issued in the following cases:

Reasons that may cause exceeding the deadlines include a prolonged illness, the necessary sole care of close relatives, etc. Please refer to §21 "Protective Regulations" of the APO and consult us if necessary.

(The examination board does not recognize lack of language skills as a reason. Similarly, financial problems and taking up employment during your studies cannot be acknowledged.)

If you are issued with such a notice, continuing your studies in your degree program, in any other Economics programs at the University of Göttingen, or potentially in a similar program at other universities, will no longer be possible.

Please familiarize yourself with the rules regarding possible grade deletions:

Mono-Bachelor: Bachelor-RPO

Two-Subject Bachelor & WiPäd: under construction

Please familiarize yourself with the rules for possible grade improvement attempts: Bachelor-RPO

Medical certificate for module exams

Medical certificate for final thesis (extension of processing time)

Notices have frequently been issued due to attempts at deception, such as wearing a watch or bringing smartphones into in-person exams. Additionally, there have been increasing cases of deception notices in recent semesters for "group work" during online exams. Take independent work seriously! The use of "AI" must be disclosed in written assignments. In the case of a repeated attempt at deception, a notice will be issued regarding a final exclusion from further examination achievements.

Information can be found under the menu item recognitions. Please contact us early if necessary so that credits can be recorded within the given deadlines (see above).

According to the General Examination Regulations (APO), examination and study achievements can only be completed by enrolled persons. Students must be enrolled throughout the entire examination period. Our advice is to only exmatriculate after all necessary examinations for your degree have been passed.

The Enrollment Regulations govern the refund of fees and charges. "If the deregistration takes place ... before or within one month after the start of lectures, the fees and charges paid will be refunded upon request." Deregistration will only occur on the day your request is received by the Study Center. This means:

  • You may still participate in exams at the beginning of October or April until deregistration, even if they take place at the start of the new semester.
  • If you have submitted your thesis or other examination achievements and then immediately deregister, you assume the risk in case of failure.

Please consider when determining the start date that examiners have an 8-week correction period for bachelor theses and a 12-week correction period for master theses. For further information and application forms, please find HERE

Important Note: There will be no automatic deregistration. You must carry out the deregistration yourself at the Study Center or via the self-service function. You can also obtain your enrollment/deregistration certificate there.
