Requirements - When is it possible to claim a disadvantage compensation?

If you are unable to complete one or more examinations- or study achievements in the intended manner, either in whole or in part, due to the effects of pregnancy, raising a child up to the age of 14 or caring for close relatives within the meaning of Section 7, Paragraph 3 of the Caregiver Leave Act, the examination board shall grant appropriate compensation for disadvantages (Section 21, Paragraph 1, Sentence 1 APO).
Exemplary reasons for granting a disadvantage compensation:

• The state of health of close relatives (children as well as adults) changes so that you have to organize support, extend or provide care (if necessary, at another location).
• Pregnancy-related complaints
• Care is cancelled.
• Courses and/or examinations are outside of the regular care time or in the closing times of the childcare services or during school holidays or in the maternity leave (period from beginning of pregnancy to end of breastfeeding).
• (Laboratory) internships fall within the maternity leave.
• Full-time internships extend beyond the care times of your children or relatives in need of care.
• Excursions lasting several days/weeks or stays abroad are mandatory.
