Dec 2025: Our project “Transboundary approaches to sustainable forest management for enhancing climate resilience and reducing disaster risk in the Himalaya (TRANSMIT)” was funded by BLE, a joint consortium project of CBL Göttingen, United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) UNU-EHS, ICIMOD, ICFRE, GFMC and others.
Dec 2025: ENLIGHT BIP "Limnogeology Summer School: Environmental change, natural hazards and human impact in Central Switzerland" funded (main applicant: U. Bern, partner universities: U. Ghent and U. Göttingen)

Oct 2025: Welcome to our new group member Lea V. Deutsch, co-affiliated with Physical Geography RWTH Aachen, who will support the Harz project.
Sep/Oct 2025: Field trip to Quito and surrounding region successful including a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universidad Técnica del Norte (UTN) Ibarra and our Faculty of Geoscience and Geography

May 2025: New DFG project funded on "Deglacial and postglacial vegetation and fire history of the Lake Melville region, Canada (MELPOLL)", a collaborative project with Dr. Catalina Gebhardt, AWI Bremerhaven, under the ICDP priority program. Jan 2025: We are happy to organise a university-wide research symposium on "Land use under climate change – co-learning with Latin America by combining natural and social science perspectives across spatio-temporal scales" in August 2025 together with Prof. Marcela Ibanez and the CBL.
