E-Didactics

In this short-format course, you will receive suggestions and concrete tips for designing your virtual teaching. In cooperation with colleagues from Digital Learning and Teaching and Higher Education Didactics, we will address various topics related to teaching and learning in online settings in regular teaching dialogues, present practical tips and tricks for your teaching, and exchange experiences.

The materials for the individual sessions are available to participants in the Stud.IP course .

Workshop facilitation: The OLD is organized cooperatively and with rotating responsibilities by staff members of the Digital Learning and Teaching team and the Higher Education Didactics team.

As part of the Knowledge Nuggets, you have the opportunity once a month to get to know a (new) tool that can enrich your teaching. A short input provides you with practical tips – compact and suitable for everyday use. You can directly apply the tool in the presented use scenarios to gain hands-on experience. There is also an opportunity for exchange in an open discussion round, for example regarding needs and applications of the presented tool.

Stud.IP

This course is aimed at university staff members who wish to manage courses using Stud.IP. No prior experience with Stud.IP is required.

  • Managing courses: entering basic data and access permissions
  • Editing schedules, times, and rooms
  • Appointing tutors and creating groups
  • Managing files and folders
  • Sending messages to participants
  • Creating announcements

Duration: 90 minutes

ILIAS

In this training course, you will learn the basics of the system and create your own learning module (including self-assessment questions) as well as a test. With prepared examples and exercises, you will receive ideas and tips for using ILIAS in teaching.

The training consists of two sessions, each covering one topic: “Learning Modules” or “Tests”. You may register for both sessions or only for the one relevant to you.

In this training course, you will learn about additional ILIAS objects (glossaries, flashcard training, exercises) and how they can be used. You will also learn more about layout and design options for your learning modules and explore H5P, a tool that allows you to create interactive learning content and games within your ILIAS materials.

H5P is a tool for creating interactive online learning materials. It offers many formats (e.g. memory games, flashcards, timelines, virtual tours) that are not covered by ILIAS and allows the same content types in a more appealing design. H5P materials can be created directly within ILIAS, either within individual ILIAS objects or separately at course level. In this training, you will get to know the tool, receive tips on using individual H5P content, and create your own materials.

Use of Videos in Teaching

In this weekly consultation hour, we offer you the opportunity to ask your questions live about using the software (Camtasia, OBS Studio, and PowerPoint 2016/2019) for creating screencasts. Based on your questions, we demonstrate solution approaches live and practice these solutions together with you.

Duration: 1 hour (online consultation)

Interactive Whiteboards in Teaching

This introductory course teaches the first steps in working with interactive whiteboards. In addition, participants practice using the SMART Notebook software as a presentation tool.

Miscellaneous & Workshops

Finding the right questions for an exam is not easy – regardless of whether the exam is paper-based or conducted digitally.

In this short workshop, we will work on this topic and focus in particular on the following aspects:

  • Explanation of relevant question types
  • Developing exam questions with reference to the learning objectives of the respective course or module
  • Specific features of digital examinations (at the University of Göttingen in general and at UMG)
